General FAQ on Tufting

  • Tufting is another form of art to create a rug or any textured surface, using a specific tool that automatically weaves yarn fibers through a cloth. You can tuft a piece to hang on a wall, a seat cushion, a keyboard mat, a pillowcase, and so much more.

  • The basic materials used for tufting are the tufting gun, yarn threader, cloth, yarn, adhesive, and backing.

  • Generally, it varies based on the size of the rug and the simplicity or details within it. You can tuft multiple rugs in a day but you do have to wait a while for the rug adhesive to dry. Also, do a great job trimming your piece to give it a clean. crisp finish.

    To do a basic rug with one color within a 32”x 36” frame that contains no words/letters or small details can take 45min to an hour to complete. As a beginner, you can achieve this outcome.

    • Includes non-slip backing on every rug

    • Production begins after full payment is made.

    • Order takes between 2-4 weeks after order confirmation and final payment

    • FINAL PAYMENT MUST BE PAID IN FULL BEFORE THE ORDER IS PROCESSED.

  • Our team can do sizes from 24" to 72"

    (2ft-6ft).

  • After full payment is made, expect to receive updates and photos of the process of your rug. Once your rug is ready for PICKUP or DELIVERY, please confirm final details.

    If the final details are not confirmed, your rug will not be shipped.

    Tracking numbers will be sent via email or text.

    Your package will include contact information, wall nails, rug care and maintenance instructions, and a discount code for future orders.

  • We only accept walk-ins Wednesday-Friday 11:30am-2pm & 3- 5 pm.

  • You must be 13 years old+ to participate in a workshop at Tuft Haven.

    Children ages 13-15 must have a guardian attending the workshop.

    Minors under 18 must have a legal guardian sign waivers.

  • In our Standard workshop, your rug will average 30-34 inches.

    In our Mini workshops, your rug will be sized at 2 feet.

    You can also fill in the background of your rug to achieve a bigger size, IF you have extra time for tufting.

  • We do not provide designs for our standard workshops.

    Email your potential design to be approved. We do not approve nor trace images that consists of excessive wording, colors and lines.

    Most of our guests send designs from platforms like Pinterest. Others tuft their favorite childhood cartoon or trending design.

    If you need further assistance in finding an image, we are more than happy to assist.Free to browse through our pre-approved beginner-friendly designs.

    MINI TUFTING WORKSHOPS (2ft rugs):

    Choose from a selection of our pre-approved designs, making it easy for beginners to jump right in. Don’t see something you like or that doesn’t resonate with you? Feel free to email your desired design before your workshop, and we’ll review it before your session or booking.

    Here are some things you can think about when choosing the right image:

    5. Favorite designer

    6. Favorite sport

    7. Something that holds a place in your heart ( a pet, a hobby)

    8. Maybe you want to gift a rug to someone. What are some of the things they like?

    9. Pinterest has cool images and designs of things you love

    10. You can also design your image! There are platforms like Canva that are pretty cool to use for creating your design.

  • After you reserve a spot with Tuft Haven, you will receive a confirmation via email. Once you receive the email, please forward your digital image to:

    1. Your image has to be approve based on details due to the duration of workshops. Tufting workshops are 3 hours, and it is important that you complete the tufting process to have backing applied.

    2. There is an $55 additional fee if you do not finish tufting on time.

  • For Non-Local Residents participating in workshops, the shipping fee is waived

  • The main difference between the two is that in our mini workshops, you get a smaller rug AND the full experience in tufting, from tracing your design yourself to trimming it and taking it home the same day.

    Our Standard workshops are larger-sized rugs. Our team pre-traces your design for you. We also complete the process by backing and trimming it. Participants have to come back to pick up the completed rug a week later, or request them to be shipped.
